Thoughts on life, engineering, and building things that matter.

FEB 03, 2026

Lost Soul

Sitting here on my balcony, smoking, listening to "Hurricane" by Ye, The Weeknd, and Lil Baby, I’m looking out and reflecting on how lost I am.

I have completely lost my way. I have drifted so far from my goals, dreams, and vision. I feel no fire or desire in me.

My finances? A mess. I’m drowning in a sea of debt. Avoidable debt. Debt taken on to sponsor my bad habits.

My career? Abandoned. I have been unable to make any progress. My dreams? Do I still dream?

Passion, desires? I have none—unless you...

Building DacHaven- My Progress Update

I should have posted this update on Sunday, September 14, but here I am, posting it today instead.

That's a significant setback and reflects a lapse in my productivity and discipline. As James Clear says in his book Atomic Habits,

I'm not making excuses for not posting sooner. To be honest, I've been less productive since Monday, especially after a super productive weekend.

Last Week?

I was able to:

I'm still working on the checkout process and improving its UI/UX.

This Week's Progress

I'm still focused on improving the checkout process. The biggest news is that DacHaven's...

Update on DacHaven

After reviewing my progress on DacHaven this evening, I realized I have been building a Tech Event-First platform instead of a Tech Community-First one.

My dream for DacHaven is to build a virtual space where tech enthusiasts and professionals can congregate, network, and grow their communities. It's more than just an event ticketing platform; it's a hub for building and nurturing the Nigerian tech community, with the ultimate goal of creating a global tech hub.

To achieve this, I need to take a step back and rework the flow to truly...

Building DacHaven: My Plan for this Week

Last Week's Progress

I decided to rebrand and rebuild Vitiket as Dachaven last week, and I registered the domain at Dynadot. Then, I made the following changes:

This Week's Plan

To build on last week's progress, here's what I'll focus on this week:

At the end of the week, I hope to have:

A Moment of Truth

I must be honest: since I began working on this project, I've only focused on the UI and logic aspects. I haven't taken the time to study or plan the system's design and architecture. So, while I'm building this week, I'll be...

learning the hard way

I learnt it the hard way

I have always heard the cliché, “If you have an idea, build fast, ship an MVP, go live, and then make it better.” It made sense to me theoretically, but I never understood the true meaning until I experienced it myself.

In January of this year, I had an idea to build a project to practice my new skills and create a portfolio. I decided to build Vitiket.com — a Nigerian tech event ticketing platform. After doing some research and watching YouTube videos on how to build it, I started building.

When I started building it, it was...

Hello world!

DAY 1

As I sit here today, reflecting on my journey, I can't help but feel immense gratitude.

Today, as I celebrate my 28th birthday, I'm filled with immense gratitude. My life today is a dream I once only imagined, and I'm so thankful for how far I've come.

My path hasn't been a straight line. I went from studying Religious and Cultural Studies at the University of Port Harcourt to becoming a nursery and primary school teacher, then a footwear retailer, and later a property manager and Airbnb host in Abuja.

On May 30, 2024, I...
